Sean has an extremely extensive knowledge of all aspects of Traditional & Modern plastering and he has used this to teach and inform in a variety of situations to a wide range of students.
Sean is a regular tutor for the SPAB on their Introduction to Traditional Lime
Plastering and Introduction to Traditional Ornamental Plastering courses. Some of these courses are purely informative case studies of past projects using power-point demonstrations, whilst others are based on the application of practical skills – useful for homeowners or plasterers seeking to broaden their knowledge. The SPAB courses are mostly situated at a National Trust property on the Coleshill Estate. Bursary places are available, sponsored by The Worshipful Company of Plaisterers.
Sean can also offer on-site training and he has travelled to the USA, Romania and Jersey to pass on his knowledge of traditional plastering to tradesmen in those locations, as well as doing the same thing in the UK for building companies who may not have come across lime products previously.
He has tutored on CPD days for Lime Suppliers and Architects in addition to a regular slot for RICS at their summer school for surveyors (2006 – 2019). This course has now re-commenced under a different banner – the first one (following Covid) was in June 2022.
In addition to carrying out the practical elements of plastering Sean can also assist with the preparation of reports and methodology statements prior to commencement of a project.
