There is far more to the Art of Plastering than it would appear at first glance

We would like to use this website to inform you about the variety of skills and techniques that a fully experienced plasterer may utilise.
Sean Wheatley left school in 1981 and immediately took an apprenticeship with a local plastering contractor where he received thorough training in all aspects of the Modern Plastering Trade. In 1990 he started his own business and since then he has diversified into the use of Traditional Materials and Skills.
Sean is a member of The Building Limes Forum and The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. He is regularly called upon to demonstrate on Home Owner and Builders Courses run by the SPAB as well as demonstrating at The Grand Designs Live Exhibition in Londonā€™s Docklands, Interbuild at the NEC and The Listed Proprerty Owners Club Show at Olympia.

  • Sean and his team have been awarded winners the AIS FPDC Plaisterers Awards Internal plasterwork 2013 and 2014.
  • He is also a member of The Plasterers Craft Guild and an Associate Member of The Worshipful Company of Plasterers.
  • In Autumn 2014 Sean and the team were asked by the SPAB to tutor a group of 10 plasterers the techniques for running a cornice in situ.
  • In November 2014 Sean also gave a powerpoint presentation for SPAB.

Sean feels that it is important to encourage a younger generation to become tradesmen and especially to preserve the traditional plastering skills. He has now trained fiveĀ apprentices to become plasterers by supporting them through college with assistance from the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board).the fourth trainee will complete his college course during this summer.
